Borderless

Cross-border payments are one of the biggest friction points for diaspora investors putting money into African deals. Borderless supports 10+ currencies, including USD, EUR, NGN, and KES but even with this range, investors were still running into issues with local banking restrictions when trying to commit to a deal. So, we built the Borderless Wallet, a multi-currency wallet that lets you hold and move funds easily, so you can commit to investments without waiting on your local bank.
How it works
Step 1: Access the wallet
From your dashboard, click the "Finance" icon (top left), then select "Wallet"
Step 2: Verify your identity
You'll complete a one-time identity check. Upload a valid ID and take a selfie. Make sure you're in a well-lit space so the photo is clear; this speeds up your verification process.

Step 3: Save your access codes
You'll be issued two things: a 6-digit authentication code and a set of backup codes. Both are generated automatically and shown to you only once; they cannot be retrieved later. Save them now, before moving forward, by copying them into a password manager or downloading them to your device.
Your 6-digit code is what you'll enter every time you need to access your wallet.
Your backup codes are your recovery option if you ever lose access to your authentication code.
This is what keeps your wallet yours. No one, including Borderless, can get in without these codes. That's the whole point.
⚠️ Lost both codes? Email hello@onborderless.com with the subject line "Wallet Access Issues" and we'll guide you through the recovery process.
In exceptional circumstances where the account holder is unable to reach out themselves, requests made on their behalf will be subject to a thorough verification process, including proof of identity and relevant documentation confirming the account holder's circumstances. Where the need genuinely arises, we will work with you to resolve it.
Step 4: Your wallet is ready
Your wallet is private and self-custodied. No one, including your collective manager or Borderless, can access it under any circumstances. Please do not share these details with anyone.

Funding Your Wallet
You can fund your wallet via bank transfer. There's no minimum funding amount, so you can add as much or as little as you need. Funds typically reflect in your wallet balance within 24-48 hours.
When you commit to a deal, your wallet balance appears as a payment option, making it easier to invest without going through your bank each time. You can also choose to transfer directly from your own bank account instead. The wallet is there for convenience, not a requirement.
Wallet Balance
Please note that all wallet balances are currently in USD, and we plan to add EUR and GBP soon.
Withdrawals & Payouts
You can link a USD, GBP or EUR bank account to withdraw funds from your wallet. We charge 1% on all withdrawals. GBP payments are usually instant, USD payouts typically take 1-3 business days, while EUR payouts take 1-2 business days.
If your wallet balance needs to be converted between currencies, the standard exchange rate at the time of conversion will apply. There's no additional fee on top of this just the exchange rate itself.
